- ʰ is a weak aspiration (weaker than ʰ)
- o as in North (but short) [ɔ]
- ky and gy are pronounced with the tongue touching the palate (not the velum as it would in English, the difference is subtle) [c] [ɟ]
- g is not fully voiced when in the middle of words, it is realized somewhere between g and k
- ā high tone (~sung with a high pitch)
- a̱ low tone (~sung with a low pitch)

- k or p is a glottal stop [ʔ] followed by [k] or [p] with no audible release (forming the consonnant in the mouth but not "speaking" it)
- ː vowel lengthening as in leave [ː]
- h or ʰ strong aspiration as in how [h] / [ʰ]
- ḍ d with the bottom of the tongue touching the palate [ɖ]
- ṭ t with the bottom of the tongue touching the palate [ʈ]
- ʂ sh with the bottom of the tongue touching the palate [ʂ]
- ṅ (or ng at the end of words) as in parking, also creates a nasalization of the preceding vowel (if any), as in French an, on, un, but weaker [ŋ]
